REKINDLING MY DREAMS
When I was faced with a blank sheet of paper after life changing events, I decided to take the advice I had offered my readers about Rekindling Your Dreams in my self-published book Flashpoint Transformation: Life’s Choices launched in January 2023 and is available in multiple formats HERE
Travel & Art
I’ve always had the intense desire to travel, explore new places, and experience different cultures. My potential talent for art had been neglected since I had to drop out after only one year at Gloucestershire Art College. At the age of 18, I was told to get a proper job as I would never make a living as an artist. I am sure I am not alone as many of you have had to overcome such inhibiting external judgement calls.
The Power of Intent
“Lo and behold” literally means “look and see” and you discover something is not surprising at all. Synchronicity the simultaneous occurrence of events significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.
First Steps
Bucket List: An itemised list of experiences or achievements I want to accomplish before I depart this life, also referred to as “kicking the bucket”.
I needed to review what dreams I still had to fulfil and prioritise three adventures I wanted to experience.
Planning the
Final Adventure
Flavours Art Holiday in Sicily
These are the questions I asked myself at the initial planning stage whilst taking into consideration I was still enjoying good health and my available budget.
- When?
- What?
- Why?
- How?
1. When?
May 13th to 28th 2024
2. What?
Book and enjoy another Flavours Art Holiday
3. Why?
The main attraction is being with a small number of fellow artists and having your tutor with you for the entire holiday. Our tutor was Celia Bennett, a contemporary artist who shared with our group of four inspiring artists many of her ideas, tips and techniques.
Another big plus for me is the outstanding choice of stunning venues reserved for the sole use of Flavours Holidays. Also the inclusive fee means you only need to take spare Euros to cover the purchase of local wares that tempt you.
4. How?
By booking another Flavours Art Holiday of course! I’ve already been to Scotland and Tuscany so I knew the high standards I would enjoy. This time I would be able to savour the sights of SE Sicily staying at Modica, near Ragusa and Noto.
Another bonus was sharing our villa with a group of 4 participants undertaking their Cookery Course. We all gathered together to enjoy the evening meal, and sup ample supplies of Prosecco along with a great selection of wine!

Extremes of Weather
It was a little like life when all is going to plan and a storm arrives with a vengeance. Thunder was deafening directly overhead and lightening illuminating the skies. The furore was spectacular with high winds battering the palm trees outside. The building was not designed to withstand such a deluge of rain resulting in its finding its way through the shutters and doorways causing ankle deep flooding. I could relate this experience to a period in my own life’s turmoil and having to set about mopping up my tears and getting on with it.
Out & About
In addition to working in the art studio or around the grounds at the villa, there were excursions such as going to a small peaceful fishing village, visiting colourful market places, and impressive towns with resplendent architecture and stunning scenery to admire.
My favourite sketch is of a small boat as I love the simplicity. I have had it framed to remind me of a tranquil experience of sitting in a waterfront café drinking coffee and watching the world go by. As a solo traveller, this genuine intent to take good care of me was greatly valued.
There was no shortage of inspirational scenes. I can give you a ‘Flavour’ review by sharing a few!
Mission Accomplished!
It’s very satisfying to have turned my dreams into wonderful adventures
Later Life’s Choices: Passive or Active Approach to Living Life?
I am free to be totally self-indulgent and combine my love of travel with my wish to re-kindle my artistic abilities and continue to make new friends around the world!
My Challenge To You
LESSON: Passive or Active Approach to Living Life?
My genuine concern is how easy it has become to accept the passive role of an observer rather than make the effort to be active and taking back your own power to whatever extent you are able.
CHALLENGE:
Consider your Bucket List and decide on three priorities for 2025. If you haven’t already completed this then don’t be surprised if your dreams don’t become your reality.
